The recognition of February as Black History Month became official by the Federal Parliament of Canada in 1995. The Hon. Jean Augustine, the first Black  Canadian woman elected to Parliament, was responsible for the enactment.  New Life Covenant Centre recognizes the significance of Black History and celebrates the Event for the entire month.

Our theme for this year: “Restoring the Dream” guides the activities that are closely related to Black History. For example, on Sunday, February 16th, at 10:00 am, we will continue the celebration of the Black Family with activities in accordance with our biblical principles. On the last Sunday, February 23rd, at 10:00 a.m., we have invited civic leaders and an outstanding Community leader to be our Guest Speaker.

On Sunday, February 23rd  at 7:00 pm, our focus will be on the Black Arts (Drumming, Steelpan, and more) performed by our youths and adults of our local congregation. The program will be followed by fellowship where refreshments will be served.  We are inviting you to join us for this Grand Finale of Black History for 2014 at NLCC – 5750  Bramalea Road (N.W. corner Bramalea Rd & Derry Rd. Mississauga), Units 42-47.
